RNLI

Charity Partner

RNLI lifeboat crews protect hundreds of communities around the UK and Ireland through our 24-hour search and rescue service. To do so, they rely on the safest, most reliable lifeboats and modern stations to launch from. This year the Waterford Viking Marathon has teamed up with the RNLI to raise funds for three local stations, Helvick Head station, Tramore station and Dunmore East Station.

While much has changed in 200 years, two things have remained the same – the charity’s dependence on volunteers, who give their time and commitment to save others, and the voluntary contributions from the public which have funded the service for the past two centuries.

“The RNLI is delighted to be the chosen charity for the Viking Marathon Running Festival. The charity operates three lifeboat stations in Waterford, at Dunmore East, Tramore and Helvick, with volunteer lifeboat crew at the ready to launch at any hour of the day or night, to save lives at sea. Funds raised from this event will support the vital service the RNLI provides, including crew training and the kit and equipment needed to continue saving lives off our coast. Our sincere thanks to the Viking Marathon crew and good luck to everyone taking part, we’ll see you there!”
