Waterford Viking Marathon 2025 Launches with Ireland’s First Disability-Friendly Run with RNLI and Vikings
Waterford Viking Marathon 2025 Officially Launched at Mount Congreve Gardens
Waterford, January 2025 — The Waterford Viking Marathon officially launched this year’s event in the stunning setting of Mount Congreve Gardens with our sponsors Sanofi, WLR, Bausch and Lomb, Sun Life, Flahavan’s, Carten Controls and new sponsor, Clem Hire. And our charity partner the RNLI.
The 2025 event made history by introducing Ireland’s first Disability-Friendly Run, catering to participants with vision impairments, hearing impairments, brain injuries, and more. This addition reinforced the event’s commitment to inclusivity and accessibility.
The Waterford Viking Marathon proudly partnered with the RNLI as this year’s official charity partner, giving participants the opportunity to support the lifesaving efforts of the RNLI. Waterford-based sportswear company Azzurri also came on board as the official race apparel provider, adding to the event’s strong local connections.
“This year’s event was a milestone for inclusivity in Ireland’s running community,” said Waterford Viking Marathon’s Event and Communications manager, Fiona Craughan. “We were incredibly excited to launch Ireland’s first Disability-Friendly Run while also delivering a world-class race experience in the heart of Ireland’s Ancient East. Whether running, walking, or cheering, everyone had a role in making this event special.”
With over 3,500 participants in 2024 and a target to grow that number by another 1,000 this year, the Waterford Viking Marathon solidified its place as one of Ireland’s fastest-growing and most inclusive running events.
